Roosevelt Elementary School - May 2013 News

The end of the year is always an exciting time in first grade.  Our students have made such tremendous growth.  Our little Roughriders are now readers and writers!

We started the month of May with our open house on May 2nd.  We had a wonderful turnout with most students bringing their whole family.  The rooms were filled with projects and writing with ocean themes, author studies, and spring themes.

We had our field trips to Storyland on May 16th and 17th.  The students had been learning stories and poems and were delighted to recognize the exhibits.  The Little Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe and King Arthur’s Castle were favorites.  We also heard an updated version of The Three Little Pigs from Mother Goose herself!

On the 30th we had our field day with stations set up around the school.  With tug-o-war, relay races, basketball and more, we got lots of exercise as we had fun.

We are looking forward to a music assembly hosted by our own Rafer Johnson Band next week.  It’s great to see the students excited about what instruments they might like to play in the future.

Overall, it’s been another great year with our fantastic first graders!
