April
began with the CVHS combined Open House and Talent Show held at Roosevelt. Our students and their families ate cookies
while enjoying the student work decorating the auditorium. Then, many of our students displayed their
individual talents ranging from dance, gymnastics, recitations, and stand-up
comedy to such musical exhibitions as guitar duets, singing, and piano. Our choir groups all sang, and the K-1 Farm
Class recited poetry and sang “Down on Grandpa’s Farm.”
Next
came the field trip to the McAfee Organic Dairy near Kerman. Students and parents learned about raw milk
and its production while riding in a “tour mobile” around the dairy. The free-range cows were definitely “happy”
cows!
Most
recently was the STAR Fun Day. Our staff
came up with this idea to combine fun activities with necessary STAR testing
for 8th graders and practice testing for grades 2-4. So, at 12:00 on April 18 following the
testing, our students and their families gathered at Teapot Park for
picnicking, ice cream sundaes, graduation planning, and a tour of the fire
station. It was a successful work and
play event!
