Be the Turning Point.........In Someone's Life - The Law School Graduate: Story #1

This year's theme is "Be the Turning Point.......In Someone's Life."  As superintendent I have the opportunity to hear stories that are truly heart warming and encouraging.  It would be remiss of me not to share these with you.  We all need to know the significance of what we do.  I hope that you will EMAIL or call me with your story, so that I can share it, if you'd like. This first story is short and sweet and was shared with me in a card:

The Law School Graduate: Story #1

".............I had been blessed in my school life, and excited about what lies ahead with the kiddies in room 5 this next year.  I once had a student who graduated from law school, inviting me to the ceremony.  His note read, ”I always knew you liked me - so I wanted you to see what you helped me become.” - L. Spitzer

Lincoln Elementary School - October 2013

A note from Jennifer DuPras, Principal:

Lincoln is a school with so many wonderful children and staff members.  Every day I observe students demonstrating kindness and good citizenship by acts such as picking up trash and maintaining good friendships on the playground.  We encourage this by handing out blue good character slips to students “caught in the act” of being good.  Blue slips are then randomly selected for prizes.  Our character trait focus for the month of October is “Responsibility.”

Several road construction projects are planned around Lincoln.   These projects, which focus on the overpass area, are slated to start the beginning of October. This may cause delays in dropping off/picking up students and bus delays to and from school on red, yellow, and orange dot busses.  Delays caused by the road construction projects will not impact your child's attendance records.

Conferences are coming.  Our Parent-Teacher conferences will be held October 14th-18th.  The Minimum Day schedule will be in effect on all five of these days. The Minimum Day schedule for that week is as follows: Second and Third Grade-school is out at 1:30 Monday through Friday.

In agreement with the other school sites, our students will NOT be dressing up in costumes during school time for Halloween.  Halloween falls in the same week as Red Ribbon Week.  On October 31st, the Red Ribbon Week activity will be wearing uniforms or clothes that reflect whatever sport they participate in and enjoy.  Examples would be Kingsburg team sport jerseys or uniforms, cheer or dance clothes, etc.  I’m not much of an athlete, but I will be wearing my Dala Horse Trot shirt and walking gear.  Please note this does NOT include professional sports team logos such as Raiders, Giants, etc.

Both grade levels are planning field trips throughout the school year. Each grade level arranges for field trips to enhance classroom learning.  All field trips tie into the appropriate grade-level standards. Lincoln School is fortunate to have funds to help pay for trips-this is a result of the annual Jog-a-thon to raise funds for school projects and events.  This year’s Jog-a-thon will take place in February.  Speaking of fund raisers, thank you for continuing to send in Box Tops.  They are really adding up!  Our first Box Top submission is due at the end of this month, so please send in any you have now.  We will have a second submission in February.

Red Ribbon Week is on the way! The week of October 28th-November 1st is Red Ribbon Week at Lincoln School, which is a time we celebrate making good choices and avoiding tobacco, drugs, and alcohol.
