Island Community Day School Newsletter - March 2016

At ICDS our smart academic goal focuses on getting students to turn in their work.  Research shows that when students consistently complete their assigned work they
perform better over time than students who have
missing assignments.

Each student has had a conference with Mrs. Jennings and knows
exactly where they stand in regards to work completion and where
they need to go. They chart this information daily on rock status
sheets, weekly on the work completion graph, and quarterly
on the classes data spreadsheet.

Students who meet Island’s expectations of a minimum of 80%
work completed will be treated to a reward trip or incentive.

Mrs. Wilkins

I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Mrs. Wilkins. She has truly
created an environment where our students feel safe, cared for, and are ready to learn.  Mrs. Wilkins will be out on maternity leave for the remainder of the year beginning March 10th. We are excited for her to welcome her third child and while we will miss her, we understand that family comes first.

Mrs. Schmal will be our long term substitute during Mrs. Wilkins absence. Mrs. Schmal is a retired teacher with many years of experience working with junior high age students. She is confident that she is up for the task of working with our youth. I hope that we can all welcome her and let her know how much we appreciate her

stepping in during this transitional time.
