Roosevelt Elementary School Newsletter - October 2016

Students have been earning STAR – bucks for displaying STAR behavior.  A STAR – buck is a ticket given to students who are  meeting and exceeding our STAR behavior expectations.  They need to have five of them to go to our STAR Character Store where they can trade them in for prizes every week.  This is a way to reinforce and reward good behavior.  Any adult on campus can recognize any student on campus for STAR behavior.  All students are eligible to earn these sought after tickets!

These efforts are right in line with California Department of Education’s Positive Behavior Intervention and Support framework for schools.  Roosevelt is currently recognized as a Bronze Level School and we are working at earning the next level.  Students in the classroom are encouraged to “Clip Up, or Pin Up.”  Encourage your child to move on up the behavior chart!

Ice Cream is now being sold on Fridays.  There will usually be three choices, including a non-dairy selection.  After students eat their lunch in the cafeteria, they can grab their choice on the way to the playground and enjoy their treat in the shade of one of our big trees.  The children love it!
