Lincoln Jog-a-Thon Rescheduled for

November 4th!!!

Jog-a-Thon Update!

Our Lincoln Jog-a-Thon was rescheduled to November 4th due to rain.  Students will now turn in their donations November 7th-10th and the last turn in day will be November 14th.  Students can continue getting pledges until November 4th.  Thanks for your generous donations!  For every $20 that a student turns in, they will receive a ticket that will make them eligible for the daily fun drawing in which they can receive the generous prizes that parents donated.  On November 17th at 1 PM we will have our Jog-a-thon Awards Assembly.  On November 18th, students that brought in $75 or more will get to throw a water balloon at Mr. Stovall.

NED Character Assembly

Recently we had the NED show at Lincoln.  The NED show is a character education assembly.  NED is a loveable cartoon character whose name is an acronym for Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best.  This assembly included many exciting yo-yo tricks throughout the assembly.  The week after the assembly, students were able to purchase yo-yos.  Students were allowed to practice yo-yo tricks on the playground at recess all week.  This event was a lot of fun, and it reminded all of us to be great citizens.  On Fridays at Lincoln we have Fun Fridays every week.  Students are encouraged to wear their Lincoln school colors so their class can win the spirit award trophy. Students are also allowed to bring their yo-yos to school on Fridays to use at recess for the month of November.

Santa Lucia Parade
Lincoln School will be having a float with the theme, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” in Kingsburg’s Festival of Lights Parade, which is on December 3rd at
5:30 PM.  If you would like to help with this event, please come to our Parent Club meeting on November 17th @ 6:00 PM in Lincoln’s Library.  Our parent club will be organizing the float, so please like the parent page on Facebook for all upcoming float information.  2016-2017 Lincoln Parents ClubFurther details will be sent home from school as we get closer to the date of the parade.  It is going to be a lot of fun!

2nd Grade Spotlight - Mrs. Rogers' Class

Mrs. Rogers’ class has been enjoying our Science unit. We have been learning about the four layers of the Earth. We especially enjoyed reading How To Dig a Hole To The Other Side Of The Earth by Faith McNulty. In this book we journeyed through the layers of our Earth and learned what each layer is made of. Each child then created their own “no-spaceship” and showed it traveling through the Earth’s layers.  We love to learn in room 25 and are excited to move on from the Earth’s layers into Fossils and Life Long Ago.

3rd Grade Spotlight - Mrs. Rosales' Class

Studio 12 at Lincoln School is a classroom full of Super Stars. We start each morning using our talent to sing about character traits, recite poetry, and SOAR!  One of our beginning units started with the study of bridges.  After reading various texts, both informational and narrative, the students worked together in groups to create their own bridge.  Each group of students used what they had learned about structures to build a bridge out of gumdrops and toothpicks.  Their goal was to hold 120 penny cars!  The students were extremely proud that they all met their goal with some students reaching 300 penny cars.  We wrapped it up with a narrative writing on the experience.  It's going to be a fantastic year with these Super Stars!
