Central Valley Home School Newsletter - February 2016

Nancy Tikkanen

Mrs. Tikkanen wears many hats in our district. She is an English Language Coordinator, Teacher, Academic Coach, and most re-cently, added on serving students at CVHS! In addition to helping guide students on her roster, she will also be teaching a Kindergarten through 3rd grade Spanish class during our enrichment strands.

Isaiah and Jeremiah Cruz

Isaiah is in 5th grade and Jeremiah is in 7th grade.  These brothers have been part of our homeschooling family since 2010. In addition to completing their home school assignments, they have recently been taking classes through the Nasa Aerospace Academy at Fresno State. These classes take place on Saturday mornings at the Kremen School of Education at Fresno State. Aside from academics, both of these students are musically gifted as well. They sing, compose their own music, and play the guitar.

Seed Survivor

The seed survivor mobile classroom made its way to our school on Feb. 3, 2016! Students experienced interactive displays, fun presentations, videos, games, and a hands on planting station. Thanks to Agrium for making this possible. Every year they tour the country and select schools to participate. Agruim’s goal is to have children that are healthy eaters, interested in agriculture, and know where their food comes from.

Oral Interpretation Events

The Peach Blossom Festival and Poetry and Prose is coming in March. Several students tried out for these events. Congratulations on their hard work and dedication.

Peach Blossom: Justin and Adam Zielke, Briana, Lexi, and Josiah Smith

Poetry and Prose: Rebekah and Sadie Badger, Natalia Kostrikin, Sidney Walker, Lily Hughes

Talent Show and Student Showcase

The talent show and student showcase is scheduled for Thursday, March 17, 2016 @ 6 P.M. A rehearsal will be held the morning of March 16th. Students who are performing must commit to attending the rehearsal and the performance.
